Gingerbread with Nutmeg Sauce

- GINGERBREAD: shopping list
- 2 c flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 t baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 t salt shopping list
- 2 t ginger shopping list
- 1 1/2 t cinnamon shopping list
- 2/3 c oil shopping list
- 2/3 c hot water shopping list
- 2/3 c molasses shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2/3 c sugar shopping list
- nutmeg SAUCE: shopping list
- 2 c water shopping list
- 1 c sugar shopping list
- 2 T cornstarch shopping list
- 4 T oleo shopping list
- 2 t vanilla shopping list
- 2 t nutmeg shopping list
How to make it
- Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon
- Add water, oil and molasses
- Beat eggs until thick and foamy
- Add sugar to eggs; mix well
- Fold into batter thoroughly
- Bake in greased 8" pan until done (sorry I don't have a time)
- SAUCE:
- Bring water to boil.
- Mix sugar and cornstarch
- Add to boiling water
- Boil until it thickens some
- Remove from heat
- Stir in oleo, vanilla and nutmeg.
- Serve warm over gingerbread.
- Makes 2 c sauce
