Gingerbread With Nutmeg Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

GINGERBREAD:

2 c flour

1 1/2 t baking soda

1/2 t salt

2 t ginger

1 1/2 t cinnamon

2/3 c oil

2/3 c hot water

2/3 c molasses

2 eggs

2/3 c sugar

NUTMEG SAUCE:

2 c water

1 c sugar

2 T cornstarch

4 T oleo

2 t vanilla

2 t nutmeg

Directions

Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon

Add water, oil and molasses

Beat eggs until thick and foamy

Add sugar to eggs; mix well

Fold into batter thoroughly

Bake in greased 8" pan until done (sorry I don't have a time)

SAUCE:

Bring water to boil.

Mix sugar and cornstarch

Add to boiling water

Boil until it thickens some

Remove from heat

Stir in oleo, vanilla and nutmeg.

Serve warm over gingerbread.

Makes 2 c sauce
