How to make it

  • Sift together flour, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon
  • Add water, oil and molasses
  • Beat eggs until thick and foamy
  • Add sugar to eggs; mix well
  • Fold into batter thoroughly
  • Bake in greased 8" pan until done (sorry I don't have a time)
  • SAUCE:
  • Bring water to boil.
  • Mix sugar and cornstarch
  • Add to boiling water
  • Boil until it thickens some
  • Remove from heat
  • Stir in oleo, vanilla and nutmeg.
  • Serve warm over gingerbread.
  • Makes 2 c sauce

    Now my mom made the gingerbread with caramel sauce AND she toped it all with whipped cream. I love the flavor of fresh nutmeg. I 'll have to give this a try. Thank you for the post.
