How to make it

  • Mix flour, cream of tarter and salt in mixing bowl stirring with knife and fork.
  • Continue stirring adding 1 cup margarine and dry ingredients along with cold water a few tablespoons at a time.
  • Continue to stir with fork until dry ingredients are kneaded in.
  • Roll out pastry into a large round.
  • Spread on a little margarine and sprinkle with a small amount of sugar.
  • Fold over 4 times spreading more margarine and sugar each time.
  • Fold over 2 or 3 more times each time rolling dough out to its original size.
  • Cut into 2-inch squares then place on a baking sheet.
  • Cook for 15 minutes at 350.

    Hmm. This looks rather plagiarized to me. Credit to “El Chico”. (Recipe by my great grandpa Gilbert). They are quite tasty though. Just made them out of my family El Chico cookbook. 🙃
