Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups Golden Seedless Raisins
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco® Shortening
  • 4 cups Flour ; sifted
  • 2 tablespoon Nutmeg ; grated
  • 1 teaspoon Cloves ; ground
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Applesauce
  • 1 cup Walnuts
  • 1 cup Candied Fruit

Directions
  1. Place raisins and boiling water in saucepan and boil 5 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and shortening.
  3. Cool.
  4. Mix; nutmeg, cloves, baking soda and applesauce (add alternately with dry ingredients.)
  5. Beat until well blended.
  6. Add walnuts and candied fruit.
  7. Bake in 2 loaf pans 45 minutes at 350°F.
  8. Cool 20 minutes before removing from pans.
  9. Store in aluminum foil.
