How to make it

  • Preheat oven on 180c.Grease and line 10 x 7 inch shallow pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar until creamy.
  • Add eggs one by one and beat well.
  • Add vanilla and mix it.
  • Sift flour and baking powder.Add chopped dates and lemon zest in the flour.
  • Add slowly to the creamed mixture,then add milk.
  • Put in greased pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn out, peel off the lining paper and leave to cool.
  • Cover top with melted chocolate/chocolate sauce and sprinkle cocunut/nuts.
  • Then cut into 16 bars.Let it set in refrigerater.
