Date And Lemon Cake Bars

- 6 oz. butter,soft shopping list
- 4 oz. brown sugar shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 9 oz. plain flour shopping list
- 3 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 6 oz. dates,stoned and chopped(about 20 dates) shopping list
- 1 lemon,grated zest shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence shopping list
- 2 tbsp milk shopping list
- melted chocolate/chocolate sauce shopping list
- Desicated cocunut / chopped nuts shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven on 180c.Grease and line 10 x 7 inch shallow pan.
- Cream butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs one by one and beat well.
- Add vanilla and mix it.
- Sift flour and baking powder.Add chopped dates and lemon zest in the flour.
- Add slowly to the creamed mixture,then add milk.
- Put in greased pan and bake for 20 minutes.
- Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then turn out, peel off the lining paper and leave to cool.
- Cover top with melted chocolate/chocolate sauce and sprinkle cocunut/nuts.
- Then cut into 16 bars.Let it set in refrigerater.
