  • 2 pounds round or sirloin steak, cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 3/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 TBSPS dark molasses
  • 2 TBSPS Instand Minced Onion (dried onion flakes)
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 12 whole peppercorns
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
  • 1 TBSP all-purpose flour
  • 2 TBSPS salad oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1 TBSP cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp fround allspice
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions
  1. Cut steak into bite-sized pieces. Combine with vinegar, water, 1 TBSP of the molasses, onion, bay leaves, peppercorns, cloves and thyme leaves. Cover (in a non-reactive shallow dish, or place in a zip-lock bag) and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, and up to 48 hours.
  2. Drain, reserving the marinade. Remove the whole spices.
  3. Sprinkle the meat lightly with the flour. Then, lighly brown the meatl, 1/2 at a time, in the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Once all the meat is browned, return all of it to the skillet. Combine the cornstarch, ginger, allspice, garlic salt, and salt. Stir in 1/3 cup of the reserved marinade. Add to meat in skillet, along with remaining 1 TBSP molasses.
  5. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly just until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve warm, on a deep platter with toothpicks.
