Apple and Bacon Muffins

This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Another tried and true recipe that we can't get enough of. Read more I make these often, they are incredible. See less
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 4 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1 tablespoon sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 2 tablespoons melted shortening shopping list
- 10 tablespoons sweetened applesauce shopping list
- 3 strips uncooked bacon finely chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Sift together dry ingredients then add egg, milk and melted shortening and mix together quickly.
- Put spoonful of batter in muffin pan.
- Place 1 tablespoon applesauce on top of mixture in muffin pan.
- Cover with another spoonful of batter.
- Sprinkle top with chopped bacon then bake 25 minutes at 400.
