Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • **For frosting
  • 2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 3-4 tablespoon milk

Directions
  1. Shift together: 1 1/3 cup flour, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 1 1/4 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup cocoa.
  2. Add 1/2 cup shortening, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup milk
  3. Beat for 2 minutes
  4. Add 3 eggs, beat
  5. Pour into cake pan(s)
  6. Bake at 350 degrees
  7. 30-35 minutes for round cake pans
  8. 45 minutes for 9x13 pan
  9. **Frosting**
  10. Mix cocoa and butter until smooth.
  11. Slowly add powdered sugar.
  12. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time
  13. Frost cake
