I ate this dish as a young child when I lived in Japan. I would like to duplicate it with out using the curry block....any suggestions????

I grew up eating japanese curry too
I never cook japanese curry without curry block before, I have the recipe though, you can give it a try
500 grams of beef
1 onion, finely chopped
1 apple, peel and finely chopped the apple
1 potato, cubed
1 carrot, cubed
2 tbs of curry powder
2 cups of milk or i cup of cream
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
pinch of coriander powder
with low heat and a little oil, saute onion until it is soft, fragant and browned
add beef, stir until beef is cooked, add water,
curry powder, corriander powder cook for 30 minutes
add more water, salt, pepper and milk
cook for another 20 minutes, serve
