Pear Pandowdy Recipe
When we want something sweet and delicious and easy to make, I pull out this recipe. It's a last minute dessert that will melt in your mouth, and just for 2,This is tried and true, and from a long lost family member's kitchen.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium firm pears, peeled and sliced.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4-1/2 teaspoons real butter
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground or freshly grated nutmeg
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 teaspoon sugar divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup very cold butter
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 good scoop vanilla ice cream optional of course :>)

Directions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the first 6 ingredients.
  2. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 min. until pears are tender.
  3. Pour into a 3-cup baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, 2 tbls. sugar, baking powder and
  5. salt;cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  6. Stir in water.
  7. Sprinkle over pear mixture.
  8. Sprinkle remaining sugar on top of crumble mixture.
  9. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 20 - 25 min. until topping is lightly browned and a toothpick comes out clean.
