Ingredients
  • 5 different varieties of apples (2 or 3 of each)
  • Brown sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Raisins
  • Pie crust (either store bought or homemade)
  • 1 Egg
  • Sugar

Directions
  1. Peel and slice apples.
  2. Place the apples into a saucepan, add in brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and raisins.
  3. Cook until apples are slightly tender.
  4. Allow mixture to cool slightly. Place into bottom of pie shell.
  5. Cut strips to place ontop of apple mixuture creating a criss-cross pattern. (I also cut out a shape to put over the center of the pie - like a leaf or hearts something like that).
  6. Beat an egg white and brush over the top of the pie.
  7. Sprinkle crust with sugar and cover in loose tinfoil place into the preheated 350F oven for about 30 minutes.
  8. Remove tinfloil and continue to bake until crust is a golden brown.
