Ingredients
  • 1 cup non-sel-rising flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 Tablespoon powdered alum
  • 1/2 teaspoon oil of cinnamon (optional)

Directions
  1. Combine flour and sugar in a large pot.
  2. Slowly stir in cold water to form a paste.
  3. Slowly add boiling water, stirrring vigorously to break up the lumps.
  4. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until thick and clear.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Add alum.
  7. Stir until well mixed
  8. Add oil of cinnamon if paste is not used immediatly.
  9. Makes about 1 1/2 quarts.
  10. Excellent for Papier-Mache' projects.
  11. Store in closely capped jars.
