How to make it

  • Stir dry ingredients together
  • Make a well in the centre and add 1 cup of the buttermilk, reserving 1/2 cup
  • Combine dry ingredients and buttermilk with a fork, gradually adding more of the reserved liquid until a soft dough is formed
  • At this point you can transfer it to a bread machine if desired
  • If working by hand, knead the dough lightly on a floured surface for 1 minute
  • Place in appropriate tin (either round or loaf)
  • Bake in 180 deg C oven for 40-45 minutes until it is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped
  • ENJOY
