Obviously you can make this with corned beef (hence the picture). If you do it called for a corned beef brisket with spice packet. The original recipe also calls for grated orange peel which I just left out because I didn't want to buy one. Instead of whole cloves I used about 1/4 tsp of ground and that seemed to work well (no straining whole cloves either).

I think I initially used a beef round roast, but to be honest I don't remember. I'm really not picky, I just pick up whatever I find at the store and use that, and that's exactly what I did this time.
