This cookie bar is not overly sweet and one that is requested every year.. It's a nice addition to your holiday cookie tray. I got this recipe from a Land o' Lakes Cookie pamphlet.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teasp. baking powder
  • 1/2 teasp. salt
  • 1/2 teasp. cardamon
  • 2 teasp. vanilla

Directions
  1. Combine all the ingredients and mix by hand until well blended
  2. spread into a greased 9'' square pan
  3. bake near the center of the oven.
  4. 350' for 22-27 mins or until a toothpick comes out clean
  5. cool completely. cut into bars.
  6. ( I toss the bars into confectioners sugar totally covering them)
