Ingredients
  • 1/4 oz package Active dry yeast. (Found at your supermarkets)
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Oil to fry*

Directions
  1. Add yeast to warm water and stir until dissolved. Follow direction on the package. A tip: Let the water and mixed in yeast stand for 3 hours before using.
  2. Mix flour and salt in a bowl. Add water with dissolved yeast to the flour mix. Knead the dough 5-10 minutes. Add more water or flour as required to have a non-sticky soft dough. Form into a round loaf about 4 inches thick. Place in a covered bowl or pan until double it's original size.
  3. Cut a small piece of loaf and pat with your palms into pieces 1/2"-1" thick by 3" wide or so and about 5" long. You don't need to form a perfect rectangular dough patties. Place individually in hot oil, about 1 to 1-1/2 minutes on each side until light to medium brown. Sprinkle generously with sugar and serve warm. Enjoy!
