How to make it

  • cream together brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
  • add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition
  • stir in pumpkin and milk . mix until well blended
  • in separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, ginger, and cloves
  • stir into the pumpkin mixture.
  • beat one min. with an electric mixer
  • mix in walnuts and optional raisins
  • pour into a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan
  • bake at 350'F for appox 55 mins or until done
  • remove from pan cool on a rack
  • serve with butter or cream cheese
