Cottage Pie Recipe

Cottage Pie Recipe
My rendition to this classic dish. This version is very rich, and not for those looking for a low fat meal! I don't season anything during prep or cook, and just use some salt & fresh ground pepper at serving. Perfection!

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 cans creamed corn
  • 10 - 12 medium russet potatoes, peeled
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • About 1/8 to 1/4 cup of milk or heavy cream (depending on how you like your potatoes)

Directions
  1. Brown the ground beef
  2. Boil the potatoes.
  3. Put the cooked ground beef in a 9 X 13 inch pan
  4. Cover the beef with both cans of creamed corn, evenly spreading across the beef.
  5. Drain the potatoes thoroughly and return to the cooking pot.
  6. Put the stick of butter in and allow to melt. Mash until the butter is well mixed.
  7. Add the milk/cream, and continue to mash until your desired consistancy.
  8. Spread the potatoes over the grouond beef/creamed corn.
  9. Bake in a preheated, 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or so, until potatoes begin to turn golden brown.
  10. * you may want to put a catch pan on the rack underneath, as this may bubble over. If so, cooking time increases a few minutes or so.

This sounds good. I bet my husband would like it, as it sounds like something his mother would have made.

What a Great recipe. I make it with regular corn. I also use ground turkey sometimes. Also another different way is to use Kielbasa with sauerkraut instead of corn with potatoes on top. I dont know if any body else would like that but we do.
