Ingredients

How to make it

  • Lay tomato halves on two sheet trays and sprinkle with mixture of cayenne, paprika, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, basil, oregano, and granulated onion.
  • Broil until spices are well browned.
  • In a large sauce pot, saute chopped onions with olive oil until soft, then add tomatoes and roasted garlic.
  • Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • Add chicken stock, cream, sugar, salt, tomato paste, and simmer.
  • Puree soup and thicken with roux as needed for 20 minutes and then strain.

    gillybabes 98: I don't see that anyone answered your questions...I have not tried this recipe, but I can help with the cream - UK double cream is a bit richer than typical American cream, and UK single cream is most similar to American Half and Half. If I were you I would go with the double cream and maybe thin it just a bit with water, or use it as is. I am not sure about milk cream. Hope this helps!

    it would be great on the site if someone could put how many ppl these dishes would feed! also some of the ingredients are different from in the uk would be nice if you could tell me what they are if in english lang instead of American lol as saying cream in the recipe is that single cream double cream or do you call milk cream??? who knows haha, also roux? whats that is that like a cornflower or something? thanks Gilly x
