White Cheddar Cheese Grits Recipe
WHITE CHEDDAR CHEESE GRITS This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Duncan Estate in Mesquite, Texas in 1997.

Ingredients
  • 6 cups water
  • 6 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground white pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1-1/2 cups white grits
  • 16 ounces finely grated white cheddar cheese

Directions
  1. In large saucepan over medium heat combine water, milk, salt, pepper and 2 tablespoons butter.
  2. Bring liquid to a gentle boil then stir in grits.
  3. Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove pan from heat and stir in remaining butter and cheese.

I love grits, I make mine using Jack cheese at times only I cut the recipe in half now that the kids are grown and have their own families... just can't beat grits!! yummmmmm
