Spicy Bolognese

- 500g minced beef (lean) shopping list
- 250g mushrooms (any type really) (finely sliced) shopping list
- 1 Medium onion (finely sliced) shopping list
- 2 tbsp olive oil shopping list
- 1 red bell pepper (finely sliced) shopping list
- 1 green bell pepper (finely sliced) shopping list
- 1 Green Chilli pepper (finely sliced) shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic (crushed or grated) shopping list
- 1 tin chopped tomatoes shopping list
- 2 tbsp Tomatroes Puree shopping list
- 1 tsp (heaped) Marmite shopping list
- Worcestorshire Sauce - lots of generous splashes ! shopping list
- 200ml red wine shopping list
- 1 tbsp mixed herbs shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds shopping list
- 1 tsp Ground Corriander shopping list
- pasta of Choice shopping list
- Grated Parmasan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Open a bottle of Red Wine. Preferably your favourite !
- Pour a large glass and sip.
- Heat the oil in wok or large Pan and reduce the heat to a medium setting.
- Add the onion, mixed herbs, chilli and cumin seeds and stir fry for about 5 mins or until the onions start to turn a little transparent.
- Stir frequently to prevent the onions from sticking.
- Have a sip of wine.
- Add the minced beef and cook until all the beef has turned from pink to brown.
- Have several sips of wine. Top up glass if necessary.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, red wine, several generous splashes of Worcestershire sauce and the marmite and stir until well mixed.
- Let this heat up until everything is simmering.
- Remember. Don't ignore your glass of wine!
- Add the tomato Puree and stir
- Add the red & green peppers, mushrooms, chopped Garlic and ground coriander and stir well.
- Let this cook for about 45 mins.
- After 30 mins, taste the sauce. add extra Red Wine OR Worcestershire sauce OR Marmite to taste if required. - No rule to this ... try it and if it tastes good then great !
- ALWAYS keep trying the sauce, and add more seasoning if you want to.
- Add chilli powder or chilli flakes if you want it a little more hot !
- If entertaining a young lady and want to impress ... DO NOT SERVE WITH LONG SPAGHETTI ... choose a delicate pasta that is easy to pick up with a fork like Penne.
- If entertaining a man wearing an expensive shirt and you have desires to get him out of it ...serve with long spaghetti and lots of sauce !!!
- Sprinkle Grated Parmesan on top and enjoy !
