This is one of my favroite dishes. I love serving it over rice.

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 2 pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 Beef Flavor Bouillon
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chopped pimiento
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

Directions
  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan; add flour and cook until bubbly. Stir in onion and cook until onion is soft, about 1 minute. Add milk and cook until the sauce thickens. Stir in shrimp, beef bouillon cubes dissolved in hot water, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, pimiento, dry mustard and hot pepper sauce. Stir in beaten egg and cream; heat thoroughly. Serve hot.

Donnaja.... I just looked at the Shrimp Newburg... that really looks good...Ive been looking for a new shrimp recipe to try...

Donnja... I told a friend about this recipe today... She wants a copy of it too...she makes everything lite in a recipe and I was wondering if you could use half and half instead of the heavy cream

Alterations


melt 4 tablespoons of butter in large saucepan, than in a seperate bowl combine mixture of milk and flour gradually adding it to the melted butter to create a thicker rue, salt, and add shrimp last otherwise they overcook


you can also make the sauce than cook the shrimp in garlic and oil than add them to the sauce and serve
