Cuban Butter Cookies Recipe
These cookes go great with a hot cup of tea or coffee. My Grandchildren love them with cold milk!

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar or ¾ cup Splenda
  • 1 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 teas cinnamon
  • ½ teas salt
  • ½ teas vanilla

Directions
  1. Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix. Grease a cookie sheet and place 1 teas balls about 1” apart, press center with thumb to create a little well. Bake at 325 for 20 min. After cookies have been baked, make a dent in the center with your thum and pour a little bit of your favorite jam or guava mixture in the center of the cookie. Let cookies cool until ready to eat.
  2. Guava Mixture
  3. Cut 1" thick stick guava paste and put on a microwave bowl , add 2/3 cup milk, 2 tablespoons margarine or butter and warm it up. Mix the ingredients and pour on top of each cookies and let cool.
  4. Enjoy!

I couldn't imagine these with margarine -- all butter in this house LOL!! Much like a sweetened shortbread, I'm thinking! Thanks, NanaNivia :)


I know about the butter! I love butter too!! But both my husband and I have cardiac problems and he's diabetic, so we have to use Margarine with 0 trans fat. Downer! But that's the way the cookie crumbles. LOL!! Yes, you can compare them to the shortbread cookies. Thanks Kukla! Try them, you might like them, he, he.
