Baked Ribs And Kraut Recipe
No sugar used but is sweet to eat, My grandchildren would not eat sauerkraut but do now.

Ingredients
  • 14 lb spare ribs
  • 1 1/3 t salt
  • 144 oz sauerkraut
  • 5 1/3 cup granny smith apples diced
  • 2 cup onion diced
  • 1 1/3 t pepper; for sauerkraut
  • 1 1/3 t pepper for ribs

Directions
  1. Cut spare ribs into 2 or 3 ribs each
  2. Place in a large covered roasting pan and sprinkle with salt and pepper
  3. Roast in hot oven (450 F for about 1 1/2 hrs. turning occasionally until brown.
  4. Reduce heat for 1 hr. uncovered (350 F)
  5. Remove from oven and pour off fat, (you can reserve enough to make gravy)
  6. Add sauerkraut, apple,pepper and onions, (this mixture can be made during the time ribs are baking)
  7. Cover and return to oven (350 F) for about another 1 1/2 hrs. or until ribs are tender and meat falls off the ribs
  8. We serve this with mashed potatoes.

Love ribs and kraut, this sounds very good. Great post. I'm assuming you meant teaspoons for the pepper, am I right?
