Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place sliced cabbage in a large glass, ceramic or plastic bowl - no metal;
  • In a small bowl, whisk together vinegars, salt, mustard and mustard seeds, white pepper and sugars, stirring until sugars are dissolved;
  • Pour over shredded cabbage and toss well;
  • Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 1 day (very important) before serving;
  • Will last up to two weeks in the refrigerator.

    Sorry, but this isn't Kraut, at least in any traditional sense! I might call this a cabbage salad.

    Kraut is a fermented cabbage where Lactobacilli result in the sour flavor.
