Port-Simmered Prunes with Mascapone

- 30 pitted prunes shopping list
- 13/c dry red wine shopping list
- 3/4c tawney port shopping list
- 3/4c plus 1 Tbs. sugar shopping list
- 2 cinnamon sticks shopping list
- 5 whole cloves shopping list
- 5 whole allspice berries shopping list
- 1 star anise shopping list
- 2c mascarpone9creamy Italian cheese) shopping list
- grated rind of 1 lemon shopping list
How to make it
- In a medium heavy saucepan,combine prunes,wine,port,3/4c sugar,cinnamon,cloves,allspice and star anise. Bring to a boil over med-high heat. Lower the heat and simmer gently about 45 mins. or until the liquid turns syrupy. Cool slightly. Remove the cinnamon,cloves,allspice and staranise from the liquid
- In a medium bowl,combine the mascarpone,lemon rind and remaining 1 Tbs sugar. On each of 6 dessert plates,place a 1/3c mound of mascarpone. Using a spoon,spread it into a wide well. Set 5 prunes in the center of each well and top with syrup.
