Rhubarb Fizz The following recipe was transcribed ver batim from The Woman's Club Cook Book of Tried & True Recipes San Antonio, Texas 1857

Ingredients
  • rhubarb
  • 1 qt water
  • 1/3 c. orange juice
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. sugar syrup
  • 1 pt. soda water

Directions
  1. Cut rhubarb in small pieces, selecting as pink a variety as possible. Put into a sauce pan with one quart cold water and cook until soft. Then strain through cheese-cloth and add one-third cup of orange juice, one-fourth cup of lemon juice, and one and one-half cups of sugar syrup.
  2. When ready to serve, add one pint of charged water or soda water drawn from a siphon.

I don't get good rhubarb down here. I grew up on the stuff in Iowa. Last time I had any was 2002 when went up to Cedar Rapids, IA. One of my aunts had the best rhubarb on the planet!!!!!!!!
