- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 5 tablespoons cocoa shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 2 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- Icing: shopping list
- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 5 tablespoons cocoa shopping list
- 4 tablespoons evaporated milk shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vanilla shopping list
- 1 box powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans shopping list
How to make it
- Heat butter, oil, cocoa and water in a saucepan until butter is melted then mix well.
- Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl with a fork.
- Pour heated mixture over flour and sugar then add eggs and mix together.
- Dissolve baking soda in the buttermilk and add to the batter then mix thoroughly.
- Put batter into a sheet pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
- Leave in the pan and spread on the icing while cake is still hot.
- To make icing melt butter in a sauce pan then add cocoa, milk and vanilla.
- Stir until mixed then remove from heat.
- Mix in sugar adding a little more milk if necessary to make it a spreading consistency.
- Spread evenly over cake then sprinkle with nuts.
