How to make it

  • Toast bread. Place toast on a baking tray ready for grilling and spread with butter.
  • Put cheese in saucepan with ale or milk, butter and mustard.
  • Cook over low heat until cheese melts, stirring continuously.
  • Stir in beaten egg.
  • Pour over toast, and brown under the grill.
