How to make it

  • Notes:
  • 1. Cooking is not a science, its an art. I do not do exact measurings and I highly encourage you to modify this to your likings.
  • 2.This is easiest with 2 sauce pans but you could use one. If you do one, sautee the vegetables first then add the beef and brown it.
  • --
  • Chop up the carrots, celery, scallions & onions. Toss into a pan and drizzle some olive oil on. Sautee until soft.
  • Brown the beef and pork in another pan(while sauteeing the veggies) and drain the fat.
  • Add the browned meat to the veggies, and pour in the wine and milk. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Then reduce the heat and stir.
  • Sprinkle in oregano, italian seasoning and spicy pizza seasoning(from a teaspoon - tablespoon for each depending on what you like. I like some spice in my sauce so I go with alot of the spicy pizza seasoning but careful not to overdo it!).
  • Finally pour in the tomato sauce(again I prefer a more meaty sauce than a soupy sauce. So at first go with 2 jars but later vary it once you see how it turns out.). Bring to a short boil again and then reduce the heat. Add in the bay leaves.
  • You should really let it simmer for at least an hour(optimally several) on a low heat, stirring every 10 - 15mins.
  • Serve up with some fresh pasta, I'd recommend some buitoni chicken ravioli, and freeze the unused portions.

This sounds rather more complicated than my Spaghetti Bolognese but nevertheless quite interesting and very flavoursome. I`d likr
