How to make it

  • Layer potatoes, carrots, turnips, water, corned beef or shoulder ham, and spice packet in a slow cooker; cook on high for 5 to 6 hours.
  • Serve meat on platter; surround with vegetables; reserve cooking liquid for Gravy. For gravy - melt butter in saucepan and add flour to make a roux. Add the reserved cooking liquid and stir until it thickens. Makes 2 cups of gravy.
