the amount of fat in ground beef varies from less then 7 percent to at least 30 percent. The leaner the beef, the higher the price, but the less fat youll be draining off.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 7 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 4 hamberger buns, toasted

Directions
  1. Brown the beef in a large frying pan over med.-high heat for 10 mins, stirring frequently at first to break the meat into small clumps.
  2. If the beef seems like its starting to burn turn the heat down to med.
  3. while the beef is browning, peel the onion and chop it into 1/4 inch pieces
  4. drain fat from beef
  5. add onoin to beef cook for 2 mins stirring frequently
  6. add ketchup,water,vinegar, worcestershire sauce,musturd, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce
  7. cook, uncovered, over med.-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 mins
  8. add up to 1/4 cup water if the mixture seems to be dry
  9. it sould be thick and juicy rather then watery
  10. p.s. if you toast the hamburger buns while the sloppy joe mixture is cooking, they wont get soggy so fast
