How to make it

  • Brown the beef in a large frying pan over med.-high heat for 10 mins, stirring frequently at first to break the meat into small clumps.
  • If the beef seems like its starting to burn turn the heat down to med.
  • while the beef is browning, peel the onion and chop it into 1/4 inch pieces
  • drain fat from beef
  • add onoin to beef cook for 2 mins stirring frequently
  • add ketchup, water, vinegar, worcestershire sauce, musturd, garlic powder and hot pepper sauce
  • cook, uncovered, over med.-low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 mins
  • add up to 1/4 cup water if the mixture seems to be dry
  • it sould be thick and juicy rather then watery
  • p.s. if you toast the hamburger buns while the sloppy joe mixture is cooking, they wont get soggy so fast
