Moms Spaghetti Sauce

- 1/3 cup oil shopping list
- 2/3 cup mushrooms, chopped shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup onion, chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup green pepper, diced shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, through a press (I add about 3 cloves) shopping list
- 2 lbs ground round shopping list
- 1 Large can tomatoes shopping list
- 2 cans tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 can tomato paste shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. msg (I omit this now...) shopping list
- 1 tsp. italian seasoning (McCormick's) shopping list
- 1 tsp. spaghetti sauce seasoning (Spice Island) shopping list
- 1 Tbsp. sugar shopping list
- water if needed (I use red wine sometimes) shopping list
- -or- shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. thyme shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. basil shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. sage shopping list
- 1/8 tsp. allspice shopping list
How to make it
- In a deep large skillet, add oil, mushrooms, onions, green pepper and garlic, sauté on medium heat until tender. Set aside.
- In same skillet, brown beef on med-high heat. Drain fat
- Return meat, vegetables and remaining ingredients to skillet. Heat until bubbling, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer with lid on but cocked for at least an hour. If it gets too thick add a bit of water to thin, or red wine.
