Moms Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

1/3 cup oil

2/3 cup mushrooms, chopped

1 1/2 cup onion, chopped

1/2 cup green pepper, diced

1 clove garlic, through a press (I add about 3 cloves)

2 lbs ground round

1 Large can tomatoes

2 cans Tomato Sauce

1 can Tomato Paste

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. msg (I omit this now...)

1 tsp. Italian Seasoning (McCormick's)

1 tsp. Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning (Spice Island)

1 Tbsp. sugar

Water if needed (I use red wine sometimes)

-or-

1 1/2 tsp. oregano

1 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. thyme

1/4 tsp. basil

1/4 tsp. sage

1/8 tsp. allspice

Directions

In a deep large skillet, add oil, mushrooms, onions, green pepper and garlic, sauté on medium heat until tender. Set aside.

In same skillet, brown beef on med-high heat. Drain fat

Return meat, vegetables and remaining ingredients to skillet. Heat until bubbling, reduce heat to a simmer and simmer with lid on but cocked for at least an hour. If it gets too thick add a bit of water to thin, or red wine.
