How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease one 9" x 5" loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl,combine
  • applesauce,shortening,eggs,water,and sugar. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds.
  • Combine dry ingredients and add to applesauce mixture. Beat on low for 30 seconds. Then,beat on high speed for 2 1/2 minutes.
  • Scape down sides of bowl as needed.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and nuts(if using).
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake 60 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire rack.
  • Cool completely.
  • Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over bread.
