Sweet And Sour Shrimpo

- 1 1/2 lbs. unpeeled fresh shrimp shopping list
- 1/2 c. flour shopping list
- 1/4 c. cornstarch shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 egg, beaten shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 c. water shopping list
- 1 tsp. vegetable oil shopping list
- Hot cooked rice shopping list

- 1/2 c. sliced carrots shopping list
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 1/3 c. catsup shopping list
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 c. water, divided shopping list
- 3 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch shopping list
- 1/2 c. vinegar shopping list
- 1 (15 1/4 oz.) can unsweetened pineapple chunks, drained shopping list
How to make it
- ***STEP ONE PREPARING THE SHRIMP:
- Peel and devein shrimp. Combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, egg, salt, water and 1 teaspoon oil. Mix well. Dip shrimp into batter and fry in hot oil (375 degrees) until golden brown.
- ***STEP 2 PREPARING THE SAUCE:
- Cook carrots in small amount of boiling water 1 to 2 minutes. Add green pepper and cook an additional 1 minute. Drain and rinse vegetables in cold water.
- Combine sugar, catsup, soy sauce, salt and 2/3 cup water in a saucepan; bring to boil. Dissolve cornstarch in 1/3 cup water to make a paste. Gradually add cornstarch paste and vinegar to sauce mixture. Cook stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened. Stir in pineapple and vegetables.
- Makes 3 1/2 cups
- You can eat with some steam rice and some fresh large leafs of Romaine lettuce where you can wrap your shrimp, rice and add the souce to it and roll like a taco. (I kind of made up this wrapping way becuase i love the lettuce wraps from PF Changs. So I experimented once and i liked it) you can also add some bean sprouds instead of rice.
