How to make it

  • Bring milk to a boil.
  • Add 1/2 cup butter and stir in grits.
  • Cook stirring constantly until mixture is the consistency of oatmeal (about 5 minutes).
  • Remove grits from heat then add salt, pepper and beaten eggs.
  • Beat mixture well.
  • Add the 1/3 cup butter then stir in grated gruyere and pour into a greased 2 quart casserole.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bake at 350 for 1 hour.
