Swedish Nuts Recipe
Excellent snack with hot chocolate or coffee. This recipe is better than the vendors who normally sell these nuts at fairs and carnivals. My mouth is watering....

Ingredients
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)
  • 1 pound of fresh pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup of butter (not margarine)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  2. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form
  3. Add sugar, salt and vanilla
  4. Beat until stiff peaks form and turn glossy
  5. Fold in nuts and coat well with the egg white mixture
  6. Melt butter in a 9x13 baking pan by placing it in the oven
  7. Spread coated nuts evenly within butter in pan
  8. Bake for 30 minutes...stirring and turning nuts about every 8 minutes
  9. Place hot nuts on foil and allow to cool
  10. Take a trip to Heaven while munching on these. :)
