Applesauce Irish Soda Bread

- 3 cups all-purpose bread shopping list
- 1 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1/2 cup applesauce shopping list
- 2 tbsp melted butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup raisins shopping list
- 2 tbsp milk shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375 and spray an 8 inch round pan with cooking spray.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
- Combine buttermilk, applesauce and butter in a small bowl, then add to flour mixture.
- Stir until mixture forms a ball and turn out onto a floured surface.
- Knead raisins into dough and pat into a 7 inch round.
- Place in prepared pan and cut a 1/4 inch deep cross in the top of the dough with a sharp knife.
- Brush top of the dough with the milk.
- Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in pan, then turn out and turn right side up.
- Cool completely and cut into 16 wedges.
