- For the rum sauce: shopping list
- Take 1 and 1/2 cups of white sugar. shopping list
- One cup of cold water shopping list
- Combine and boil for 3 munutes shopping list
- Let cool shopping list
- When cool and not before add 1/3 cup of the best rum shopping list
- Set a side to stand while making the Baba shopping list
How to make it
- For the Baba:
- Take 1 and 1/2 cup of sugar,2 eggs,2tablespoons of heavy cream and 1/8 teaspoon of salt
- Mix together until smooth
- Then mix together,1cup plus 2 heaping tablespoons of sifted flour,1 and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder ,Mix these ingred. withe the sugar and egg ingred.,adding 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Heat 1/2 cup of milk until hot ,but not boiling
- mix milk into the other ingred, and immediately pour into a cake pan that has been butter well
- You must have the oven pre heated ot 360 degrees,for if you delay in getting the batter into the hot oven after you have added the hot milk it will damage the Baba. Bake for 30 minutes
- Remove the Baba from oven and remove the Baba from pan into a slightly larger pan,a covered pan if possible
- Let it cool down until it is warm but not steaming.
- Pour the rum sauce slowly over the Baba letting it soak in well
- Cover with either wax paper or a lid,but not aluminum foil
- Let stand overnight
- Take 1/2 pint of whipping cream,1/3 cup of sugar and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of almond extract,pure
- Whip together until stiff
- Cut the Baba in squares and top with the whipped cream
