Ingredients
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 4 bacon rashers chopped
  • 1 carrot diced
  • 1 celery stick diced
  • 1 ld lean mined beef
  • 200 ml red wine
  • 150 ml milk
  • ground nutmeg
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp chopped herbs (oregano or which ever)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lb / 500g Spaghetti strings
  • 50g /2oz parmesan cheese grated to serve

Directions
  1. Heat oil in a big sauce pan or casserole dish.
  2. Saute onion garlic celery carrots and bacon until soft (few mins)
  3. Add beef and cook until browned.
  4. Add red wine -bring to boil & then reduce heat to medium. Simmer until most wine has evapourated.
  5. Season with a little salt and pepper.
  6. Add milk and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (more or less depending on ur love of nutmeg!)
  7. Cook until milk has been absorbed.
  8. Add tomatoes sugar and herbs.
  9. Reduce heat and simmer gently for ~ 30 - 40 mins.
  10. Serve with cooked spaghetti and cover with the cheese.
