How to make it

  • Heat oil in a big sauce pan or casserole dish.
  • Saute onion garlic celery carrots and bacon until soft (few mins)
  • Add beef and cook until browned.
  • Add red wine -bring to boil & then reduce heat to medium. Simmer until most wine has evapourated.
  • Season with a little salt and pepper.
  • Add milk and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (more or less depending on ur love of nutmeg!)
  • Cook until milk has been absorbed.
  • Add tomatoes sugar and herbs.
  • Reduce heat and simmer gently for ~ 30 - 40 mins.
  • Serve with cooked spaghetti and cover with the cheese.
