Ingredients
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups Nabisco 100% bran (or) 40% will be fine
  • 4 cups Kellogg's Bran Buds
  • 2 and 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 quart buttermilk
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour (or)can use part wheat flour
  • 4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Mix the water and shortneing and let stand
  2. Add remaining ingredients,and stir all together
  3. May add raisins,nuts,currants (I like chopped dried apricots or craisins)
  4. Bake in muffin pan lined with paper baking cups
  5. 400 degree for 20 minutes
  6. Note: Will keep 6 weeks in the refrigerator in a covered container
  7. Makes about 4 to 6 dozen muffins
