Ingredients
  • 1-1/4 cups water heated to 110
  • 1 package quick rising yeast
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1-1/2 cups graham flour
  • Filling:
  • 1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon leaf oregano
  • 1 pinch pepper

Directions
  1. Combine water and yeast in mixer bowl and let stand 5 minutes.
  2. Add all purpose flour and mix at medium speed for another 4 minutes.
  3. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board and knead a few times.
  4. Form into a ball and place in a well greased mixing bowl.
  5. Turn ball over to grease top then cover with cloth and let stand at room temperature until doubled.
  6. While dough is rising cook meat and onions over medium heat.
  7. Stir frequently until onions are soft and meat is browned then drain well.
  8. Discard fat and juice then return meat and onions to pan.
  9. Add tomato sauce, catsup, seasoning and cook over medium heat until the meat is dry.
  10. Set meat mixture aside to cool until dough is ready.
  11. After dough has doubled in volume transfer it to a lightly floured working surface.
  12. Knead lightly then form into a roll and cut into 12 equal portions.
  13. Form each portion into a little ball then cover with a cloth and let rest 10 minutes.
  14. Roll each ball out to form a circle 5" across.
  15. Put 1/4 cup meat mixture in center of circle.
  16. Pull dough up around filling and press together at the top then place on a well greased cookie sheet.
  17. Cover with a cloth and let stand 40 minutes at room temperature or until doubled in volume.
  18. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until lightly browned and firm then serve hot.
