Chocolate Cream Buns

- FOR THE CHOUX PASTRY shopping list
- 2 oz. flour shopping list
- 1 oz. butter shopping list
- 1 gill of water shopping list
- a pinch of salt shopping list
- 4 drops of vanilla essence shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- Quantities may be doubled to make a larger number of buns shopping list
- FOR THE chocolate icing shopping list

- 2 oz Grated chocolate shopping list
- 8 oz. icing sugar shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence shopping list
- 1/4 gill of water shopping list
How to make it
- Heat the water and butter in a pan and when boiling add the sifted Flour.
- Stir briskly whilst still heating until the paste ois smooth.
- when cool, beat in the Egg.
- Place dessertspoonfuls of the mixture on to a greased baking sheet
- Bake at Gas mark 5 for 1 hour.
- When cooked, and cooled, slit the bun and pipe in beaten Fresh cream.
- ICING
- Boil the water and chocolate together for a few minutes until quite smooth.
- stir in the Icing sugar until thick enough to run the chocolate mix over the top of the Buns
- THIS SAME RECIPE EXACTLY CAN BE USED ASA FOR CHOCOLATE ECLAIRS, BUT YOU WILL NEED - FOR BEST RESULTS - AN ECLAIR BAKING TIN.
