Pagach Recipe
My grandmother made this with leftover bread dough. It's great for Lent.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 stick butter or margerine
  • 1 small onion approx. 1/4 cup finely chopped
  • 1 small bag frozen mashed potatoes (prepared as directed)
  • or 4 cups regular mashed
  • 2 large eggs or 3 medium eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 1 8 oz. extra sharp cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup milk, if needed
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 can Pillsbury Pizza crust or a prepared crust

Directions
  1. In large pot, saute onions in butter
  2. when onions are golden, add potatoes, egg, cheese, & sugar
  3. if mixture seems thick, thin with some milk
  4. roll pizza dough into thin round or to fit a cookie sheet, if using prepared crust, place in appropriate pan
  5. top crust with potatoe mixture, spreading to cover crust
  6. bake at 400 degrees until top is browned, approx. 30 minutes
  7. can be served warm or cold, but is better warm, topped with butter.
