This is a very hearty and very tasty soup. I got this friend from a neighbor who makes this on cold winter nights. He usually serves it with homemade cornbread and it is a great hearty meal. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon dried New Mexican chilies crushed
  • 1 pound smoked chorizo sausage crumbled
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 carrots diced
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 2 cups cooked kidney beans
  • 2 tomatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 cup broth from cooked kidney beans
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • Sour cream

Directions
  1. Briefly sauté chorizo then add onion, carrots and celery and sauté over medium heat for 2 minutes.
  2. Combine with remaining ingredients except sour cream and simmer 30 minutes.
  3. Garnish with sour cream and serve.
