- 1 1/4 cups barley flour shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger shopping list
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1/3 cup (packed) brown sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/2 cup blackstrap molasses shopping list
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice shopping list
- zest of two oranges shopping list
- 1/2 cup dark raisins, soaked and drained shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease two baking sheets.
- Combine flours, spices, salt and baking soda in a bowl.
- In another large bowl, cream the shortening and brown sugar.
- Beat in the egg, followed by the molasses, orange juice and zest.
- Gradually blend the flour mixture into the wet ingredients.
- Fold in the raisins.
- Drop the dough by spoonfuls 3 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly coloured but still looking a bit underdone.
- Let cool on sheets.
