A cheese frenchee is essentially a deep fat fried sandwich. They were a favorite at a Lincoln,Nebraska hangout (Kings) for many years. They offered cheese, ham & cheese and tuna frenchees all on their menu.

Ingredients
  • 6 slices sandwich bread (Crust trimmed off)
  • 6 slices of american or velveeta cheese
  • mayonnaise
  • 1 egg well beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teas. salt
  • Finely crushed corn flakes ( I would guess you would need about 2-3 cups worth)
  • Oil for deep frying

Directions
  1. Heat your oil for deep frying to 375.
  2. Prepare sandwiches-Mayo on each side of bread and 2 slices of cheese on each sandwich. You are basically making just 3 sandwiches.
  3. When you've made three sandwiches, cut diagonally into quarters.
  4. Beat together egg, milk, flour and salt.
  5. Dip sandwich triangles in milk/egg/flour mixture. Then coat with corn flakes.
  6. Fry sandwiches in oil until golden, turning once.
