My own original dessert trifle, I enjoy createing different delicious dessert for my family. Although any home made sour coffee cake is great by itself; this trifle makes an unusual but wonderful party dessert.

Ingredients
  • By butterflydog
  • 1 8 or 9 inch sour cream coffee cake with cinnamon
  • nut streusel - loaf, tube or bundt variety
  • (home made or store bought)
  • 1, 16 oz can Hershey's chocolate syrup
  • 32 oz frozen strawberries in sugar syrup, thawed
  • 1 large container of whipped topping or one pint cream whipped
  • 1 small jar of maraschino cherries in juice
  • mint leaves for garnish

Directions
  1. When cake is completely cold, tear up in coarse chunks. Or use a store bought coffee cake.
  2. In a glass bowl layer the cake, berries with juice, chocolate syrup, cut of maraschino and juice and repeat layers again.
  3. Spread whipped topping or cream over the trifle. Cover and chill well.
  4. Serve individual portions in glass bowls or dishes
  5. Note: variations: egg nog pound cake would also work well in the recipe for New Year's
