Mixed Bread Recipe
This makes 2 or 3 loaves, depends on how big you want them. The bread has a great taste! My mothers recipe, I think she got it out of our local cookbook.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 Tbsp. crisco lard
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 cups cooked grits
  • 1 package yeast
  • flour, as needed

Directions
  1. Firat Step.....
  2. Dissolve the yeast in water. Add shortening, salt, sugar and grits.
  3. Add enough flour to make a stiff batter. Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk. An hour or so.
  4. Second Step......
  5. Divide into 2 or 3 loaves and let rise until doubled in bulk again..
  6. Third Step......
  7. Bake at 425 degrees for about 50 minutes.
  8. Take loaves out of oven and rub margarine on them.
  9. Fourth Step.....
  10. Wrap in waxed paper and a cheesecloth or towel.
  11. When the loaves cool, wrap them in plastic wrap.
