Ingredients
  • Chocolate Ganache:
  • 12 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 oz butter
  • 4 1/2 oz double cream
  • Puff pastry roll
  • Egg yolk, beaten
  • 2 oz powdered sugar

Directions
  1. To make Ganache:
  2. Boil cream in a thick based pan and remove from the heat, set aside.
  3. Melt the chocolate and stir in the butter, stirring until the butter has also melted and is fully mixed in with the chocolate.
  4. Stir in a couple of drops of your favourite flavoring: orange, banana, almond, etc
  5. Pour in the cream and stir quickly, the mixture will solidify .
  6. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  7. Shape as required for the pastry spoons.
  8. The ganache can be molded by hand into rounds, ovals, etc but chocolate molds are readily available.
  9. Puff pastry spoons:
  10. Preheat oven to 350F.
  11. Cut a two inch by five inch strip of puff pastry.
  12. Place on floured board or worktop. Do not roll with rolling pin..
  13. Shape the stem of the spoon by folding inward and gently rolling.
  14. Form the bowl of the spoon by working out a circle with your thumbs and fingers.
  15. Seal by brushing with beaten egg yolk.
  16. Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
  17. Place finished spoons on a lightly greased cookie sheet,
  18. Use metal spoons, egg cups or anything small that is oven/heat proof to hold up the stems of the pastry spoons while baking.
  19. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until pastry is golden, crisp and firm.
  20. Let cool on the pastry sheet with the stems supported.
  21. Place the finished ganache into the bowl of the spoon.
  22. Serve on dessert plates.

Im definitely gonna try this but I must tell you - I had not see anything so exquisitely made for a long time! The spoon idea is fantastic!
