Summer Plum Slurp

- 1 (1lb. 3oz) can plums shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 2/3 cup sugar or 1/2 cup honey shopping list
- 1 cinnamon stick shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- pinch of salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup red wine shopping list
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice shopping list
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- 3 tablespoons brandy(optional) shopping list
- additional sour cream and cinnamon for garnish shopping list
How to make it
- Drain, pit and chop plums, reserving syrup
- Combine plums, syrup, water, sugar and cinnamon, pepper and salt and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes
- Stir in heavy cream and red wine mixed with cornstarch.
- Continue cooking and stirring until thick.
- Add lemon juice and rind and remove from heat
- Whisk one cup of soup with sour cream and brandy in separate bowl until smooth, then add to rest of plum mixture
- Chill, covered, at least 4 hours
- Garnish with additional dollop of sour cream and sprinkle cinnamon if desired
